Dana Day

RAW
Pinhole Photography
4" x 5"

RAW by Dana Day. Dana Day has been creating pinhole photographs with a
Hershey cocoa box camera for more than 15 years.
Her primary subject is the self portrait.
Historically, she would have been dissatisfied
for an image to turn out in the manner of this one.
Revealing the tools of her trade, as one can see the legs
of the tripod peaking beyond the proverbial curtain.
She strives to capture the fairy tale, not the clutter of reality.
But Dana feels this image has more to say.
She feels that she is revealing more of herself than she typically does,
though she is often working with nude self-portraits.
Something about the haphazard way her clothes are strewn about the floor,
the unscooped litter pan disappearing into the corner....
Unintentially allowing the viewer to finally glimpse into the chaos that is her world.
This creates a sense of vulnerabilty that is not always present in her work.
